Indoor Training Sessions
Foothills Little League is pleased to once again offer indoor training dates as follows:
For players entering into Instructional and AAA divisions (ages 6 - 10) the clinics will run on Tuesday nights from 6:30 - 8:00 pm, starting Tuesday, January 10, 2012 and ending Tuesday, March 6, 2012.
For players entering into Majors/Nationals, Juniors, Seniors, and Big League divisions (ages 11 -17) the clinics will run on Saturday mornings from 9:30 am - 11:00 am, starting Saturday, January 7 and ending Saturday, February 18, 2012.
All indoor clinics are located at the Absolute Baseball Academy: 2221 Crowchild Trail NW.
There is no charge for players registering (click here to register) with Foothills Little League, but please RSVP (brad@visageinfo.com) if you are interested in participating in these clinics.
There will also be additional Hitting and Fielding clinics announced for March and April. Keep an eye on this space for more information!
Fielding Clinics with Brian Rios
Former Viper Brian Rios, who helps out with our weekly indoor clinics, is also offering some specialized Fielding clinics on Thursday nights from 5:30 to 6:30. These are open to players from all leagues. Contact Brian at brianrios1996@hotmail.ca for cost details and for more information.
Coaching
Juniors Coaching Clinic Sunday April 15, 2012 - Registration 12:30, Clinic 1:00 to 5:00.
Location: Chestermere Rec Center (201 West Chestermere Drive Chestermere AB)
This program is designed for coaches already working with or plan to work with the Junior Program (ages 13 and 14). As well, for Major coaches who have plans to move up to this program in 2013. However, anyone interested is welcome. The focus will be on the transition of the managers, coaches and players from the Majors to the Junior Prgram. This would include the challenges players will encounter adapting to a 90 foot diamond. This course is taught by Alberta Sports Hall of Fame member Al Herback. The only cost to the participants will be a voluntary Food Bank donation.
Little League District #3 will once again be offering the ‘Al Hrbek Teaching for Tomorrow Coaches Clinics’ on April 25 & 26, 2012. This is an excellent free clinic for all prospective coaches/assistant coaches/involved parents. All Foothills coaches are required to attend this clinic at least once. Al is a member of the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and is regarded by Little League International as one top coaching instructors in the world! More information on this course will be posted here in the new year.
Evaluations
Evaluations for the AAA (9-10 yr olds), Majors/Nationals (11-12), Juniors (13-14) and Seniors (14 – 16) divisions will take place starting in mid March. Each player will only be required to attend one ½ hour session and will be contacted directly regarding the date and time. All evaluations are located at the Absolute Baseball Academy: 2221 Crowchild Trail NW. The Instructional division (6 – 8 yr olds) will not have evaluation sessions.
